THE NEW LG G6 HANDS ON
The new LG G6 on Thursday at the mobile world congress in Barcelona was introduced as south Korea’s new flagship phone comes with massive scram to target Netflix-loving, stream-savvy commuters who want to watch movies and series on the go.
The mobile phone industry is rapidly escalating to improve its efficiency and ability to deliver content as the popularity of watching T.V series and films on small screens surges, forcing a shift in focus for the sector.
LG’s flagship phones have, for the last few years, pinned their success on stand out features. The LG G3 introduced Quad-HD displays, the G4 shipped with Quirky leather backs, and last year’s G5 went with by a modular designed. For LG G6 is focusing on cramming and a large display on a small body.
The first thing you will notice about the LG G6 is its peculiar display. Like the Xiaome Mimix-a China only phone released in late 2016-the screen here is starched to nearly corner of the every device.
Rather than typical 16:9 aspect ratio almost every smart phone since the original Iphone has opted for, LG switched to an 18:9 ratio display (basically 2:1) that provide more screen in a smaller display.
One side effect of cramming a bigger screen into a shell of this size is that the corners of the panel are now rounded, rather than right angles. Its an odd jolt from normality. Although it matches the general curviness of the, it looks strange and is particularly off-putting on both the silver white models. It is the first phone with dolby vision support and like, the dearly noire 7, its HDR 10-enbled.
It’s a Real Looker
The G6 is LG’s nicest looking yet. It comes in silver black white, though the white version will only be available in certain countries, not including U.S.
It’s virtually bezel-less. The 5.7 inch screen takes up roughly 80% of the phone. At 565 pixels per inch, the screen is super sharp, an it takes on an 18:9 ratio.
You Can Dunk It Under Water
It is think that water proof phones are “not that useful” LG has changed its tune. The G6 is the company’s first dust and water-resistance flagship, and it comes at time when many of its competitors have already made their marquee phone splash-friendly.
Its rated ip68, which means you can dunk it in upto a meter of water (about 3 feet), for up to 30 minutes. For the everyday user though, it just mean the G6 won’t crap out after you accidentally drop it in the pool or spill coffee on it.
The Cameras Have New Tricks
The G6 has two cameras on the back. But they are not to take artsy “Boklh” portraits like you do with the apple iphone 7 plus. On the G6 you can switch between the standard 13-mega pixels lens and the 120-degree wide-angle lens to capture more content in each frame. And if you are really about all that wide-range life, the 5-mega pixels front-facing shooter has a wide-angle option as well.
LG added a separate camera app too called square camera. Aimed at a hard core Instagram users, it offers a number of different tools to take neat square photos.
Google Assistant Comes Baked In
Aside from the google pixel phone, the G6 is the only other hand set so far to feature Google’s signature Al, assistant naively. Assistant uses, the Google’s vast search data base and voice recognition.
So What’s Not To Like
Spec nerds may notice that the G6 feature, a Qualcomm snapdragon 821 processor which is pixels. Compared to the 821 processor, the 835 is measurably. Smaller, faster and quicker at recharging mobile batteries. We won’t know until we tested, of course, but from our time playing videos, sending e-mails and navigating around, the G6 felt fast.
Second, the G6 does not have a removal battery: water proofing and removable batteries don’t tend to go together these days, so omitting one of LG’s trade mark features was kind of a given. With competitive features, that large screen an its palm able shape, the LG G6 gives buyers plenty to look forward to. The G6 may not be as experimental or quirky as its predecessor, but I think that’s good thing.
